Open Thoughts About Returning to Writing

After a little break, and with a fair bit more gray hair (and all the fun problems that come with aging), I'm ready to re-open this space – my personal blog – as a place to share thoughts, experiences, guides, research and more. I may get things wrong, but I’ll do my best to get them right. In the end, I hope that we can (re)connect over some seriously cool topics.

Diving Deep into MarTech: My Digital Playground

If you know me even a little, you know I’ve lived in marketing technology for a very long time. I’m no considered “the OG” in some areas and that’s a weird feeling in my middle years. The sheer pace of innovation in this world is just incredible, and I'm constantly learning more about how we can use these tools to craft genuinely meaningful and impactful digital experiences. Here, we're going to pull back the curtain on everything from Digital Experience Platforms and Content Management Systems, to the fascinating blend of art and science that is Experimentation and Personalization. And, of course, we absolutely have to talk about the game-changer: Artificial Intelligence (AI) in marketing and, of course, code (this site was built with AI in one day, so that’s a thing now). Expect candid thoughts, real-world insights, and maybe a few predictions about where this wild ride is headed next.

The Road Ahead: Electrification and My EV Adventures

Stepping away from the screens for a moment, my other huge passion is the world of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and the broader movement towards electrification. I truly believe this isn't just a trend; it's the inevitable and exciting future of how we move. My own journey has deepened, now owning a couple of EVs, and I'm eager to share the joys, the learning curves, the hunt for charging stations, and all the mind-blowing tech advancements happening daily. We'll explore the challenges, celebrate the wins, and ponder what it all means for our planet and our everyday commutes. It's a topic I'm deeply invested in, and I can't wait to share every mile with you.

Beyond the Tech: Life, Laughter, and a Little Philosophy

While MarTech and EVs are definitely going to be front and center, this blog is also a space for me to just be me. So, every now and then, you'll find posts where I open up about family life – especially now that my son is officially a teenager (send help and if you can’t send help, send bourbon). I'll also reflect on the quiet power of kindness in a noisy world, and share some of the more philosophical thoughts that shape my perspective. These are the threads that weave through all our lives, and I think they're just as important to explore.
